DR. PHILLIPS CHARITIES ESTABLISHES THE EAGLES FOR ARNIE CHALLENGE, PLEDGING 5K FOR EVERY EAGLE DURING THE ARNOLD PALMER INVITATIONAL PRESENTED BY MASTERCARD IN SUPPORT OF ARNOLD PALMER HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN
ORLANDO, Fla. — This year, the Arnold Palmer Invitational has an exciting new addition. In partnership with the Invitational, Dr. Phillips Charities has established the Eagles for Arnie Challenge. For every eagle made during the Invitational, Dr. Phillips Charities will donate $5,000 to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. During the 2012 Arnold Palmer Invitational, golfers made 28 eagles throughout the tournament. Over the last three years, an average of 29 eagles has been made during the tournament, creating an opportunity for Dr. Phillips Charities to make a very generous donation to the hospital.
"The Arnold Palmer Invitational is played every year in the community that bears the Dr. Phillips name. With the recent relocation of our headquarters to the neighborhood, Dr. Phillips Charities wanted to find a unique way to support both the tournament and our good friends at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Establishing the Eagles for Arnie Challenge allows us to team up with the Invitational and enhance our partnership with the Hospital. The impact the Invitational and the Hospital have on the Central Florida community is tremendous and we are honored to establish the Dr. Phillips Charities eagle program in support of one of the nation's leading medical centers focused on care for children, women and babies," said Jim Hinson, Board Chair, Dr. Phillips Charities.
"Dr. Phillips Charities has been a long-time partner to Arnold Palmer Hospital and we're very excited to have them involved with the golf tournament this year," said John Bozard, president of Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. "Their contribution to the hospital will go a long way in extending Arnold Palmer's legacy of helping children and families in this community."
For 26 years, the partnership between the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children has allowed the hospital to realize growth and garner support from the Central Florida community in ways that have far exceeded expectations. The 35th annual Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard, Orlando's signature event, will be held at Bay Hill March 18-24, 2013. Tickets are available at Central Florida Publix stores, online at arnoldpalmerinvitational.com or at the ticket office at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge.
