Birdies for Babies
“Birdies for Babies” is your opportunity to help the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, while sharing in the excitement of the 2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard!
How It Works
Make a pledge for every birdie made during the four competitive rounds of the tournament, or make a one-time gift and guess the total number of birdies that will be scored.
2009 Inaugural Year
Tiger Woods walked away with his sixth Invitational tournament title at Bay Hill with the last birdie of the tournament and Richard Moorehead walked away with the grand prize of the inaugural Birdies for Babies benefiting the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. Windy weather and a tough Bay Hill course kept scores high and made birdies scarce. The final tally was only 940 birdies scored during all four round, according to the PGA TOUR. Amazingly, Moorhead guessed the number exactly. He had the first crack at the grand prizes and chose the Bay Hill Stay-and-Play package. Two other entrants who guessed 900 birdies each received one of the two other grand prizes. In its first year, the program raised over $12,000 for for NICU at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies!
